National Certificate in Equine
(Community Coach) Level 3

This certificate is awarded to people who have demonstrated competency in a range of skills to care for horses and coach riders at an introductory level. The qualification recognises a combination of equine care, equine health, and equitation skills required for coaching, which meet the horse management skills and knowledge required by the industry. The purpose of this course is to allow students who have completed the Telford Certificate in Equine Studies to complete the additional units required to complete the National Certificate in Equine (Community Coach) (Level 4).

Structure:

The National Certificate in Equine (Community Coach) Level 3 is run as a series of four short courses at the NTA Equestrian Centre. There are no set dates for these courses and the length of each course is dependant on individual student's abilities.

Content:

  • First Aid
  • Riding a show-jumping horse
  • Riding a cross country course
  • Building a gymnastics grid
  • Designing and assessing a show-jumping course
  • Planning, implementing and evaluating a coaching session

Outcome:

Students who complete this course will be able to coach riders of limited ability in a situation whereby they have some responsibility for the rider under the supervision of a higher grade coach. Students may complete the National Certificate in Equine (Community Coach) (Level 3).

Entry Criteria:

To be eligible for this course, the student will have completed the required unit standards within the Telford Certificate in Equine Studies.

OR

Students will need to have an interest in coaching or be currently involved at a coaching/teaching level.

Students can elect to complete the four short courses only, or complete the full National Certificate. Course fee applies.
