Training for a Career in the Equine Industry
The National Trade Academy Trained offers three types of courses in the Equine Industry. Investigate them by clicking on their names.
- Telford Certificate in Equine Studies Level 3
The course combines practical training with theory that allows students to understand the How, When and Why of the NZ Horse Industry. This course incorporates the National Certificate in Equine (Stable Practice) Level 3
- National Certificate in Equine (Introductory Skills) Level 2
This course has the support of a number of key trainers, the Canterbury Harness Horse Cadet Scheme and the NZ Thoroughbred Racing Association, who recognise the importance of a skilled workforce. We have trainers who are prepared to support the course by offering their own expertise and stables for work experience.
- Specialised Equine Programmes
The National Trade Academy Ltd is running a series of specialised courses to provide horse owners with increased skills and knowledge in equine care, and riding skills.
- National Certificate in Equine: Sport Horse Level 4
Students who complete the Telford Certificate in Equine Studies (first item above) can continue with the Sport Horse module at the end of their course.
- National Certificate in Equine: Community Coach Level 3
The purpose of this course is to allow students who have completed the National Certificate in Equine (Stable Practice) Level 3 to achieve aditional unit standards to complete the Community Coach qualification. Other students can enrol and complete the Stable Practice qualification by arrangement.
