Specialised Farm Safety Programmes

The National Trade Academy Trained offers the following specialised safety programmes. For full details of each, click on its name.

  • All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) Safety Training
ATVs are the leading cause of death from injury on New Zealand farms, according to ACC statistics. We teach you and/or your staff the skills and knowledge to ride an ATV in a safe manner.

  • Motorbike Safety Training
The course includes 1 to 2 days practical training including theory with some distance learning prior to the course date. We can run the course at a suitable venue near your place, or at our own site.

  • Chainsaw Safety Training
You and/or your staff are taught the skills and knowledge to operate a Chainsaw in a safe manner, including identifying safety and other features on chainsaws, describing hazards and safe operating procedures, using a chainsaw to make cuts safely, and sharpening a chainsaw.

  • Tractor Safety Training
Learn the practical skills and knowledge to operate a tractor safely. Covers areas including checking and servicing tractors, safe operating procedures with implements, safe tractor driving techniques, legal requirements for operating tractors, and occupational and tractor stability hazards.

  • Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) Safety Training
4WDs can be a cause of death and injury both on and off-road. This course includes a theory unit on day one. A "4WD Handbook" is provided as a resource. There will then be one day of practical training.
